When and why did you start paragliding?
I started paragliding in the summer 2020 after a tandem flight with a friend.
I was hooked. It seemed perfect to get back down the mountains I climbed.
Then I discovered the potential with thermal flying and long distance flights.

Why have you applied to participate in the X-Pyr?
To live a big and fast adventure with friends, alongside the best H & F pilots in the world.

Why are you attracted to hike & fly?
Hike & fly combines many skills that makes it even more interesting than just cross-country flying. The day is not finished when you’ve landed, a good move can put you back in the game.
Planning ahead, and keeping your head cool in all situation is mandatory.

What is your greatest sporting success (flying or not flying)?
Progressing without having bad experiences, staying just at my ability level without pushing it too much until today.

What excites you most about participating in the X-Pyr?
Discovering my ability to face such a long race and get to see what I’m able to give to succeed.

What is your best result in a H&F competition so far?
I consider my 3rd place at the Cantal Air Tour behind Tanguy Renaud-Goud and Rémi Bourdel and my second place at the Jura Air Tour behind Idris Birch to be my two best performances so far.

Have you flown in the Pyrenees before? Do you have a favourite area?
I flew across a part of the southern Pyrenees last spring during a solo vol-biv adventure going the opposite way, from East to West. My biggest flight took me from la Pobla de Segur to Santa Orosia above Sabiñanigo passing on the famous Peña Montañesa.
The video of this crossing is on my youtube channel.

What does your typical training week consist of?
I run three to four times a week, I go climbing once or twice and to the gym for some core reinforcement. On the weekends, I’m usualy hiking and flying in my region, some skitouring or climbing can get in the mix. Once in a while I’ll go for a MTB ride.

What worries you the most about the event?
Bad weather and running to much on the flat. Being on the ground while others fly away.

Personally, how do you feel differently when you participate in H & F races in comparison to XC competitions?
I don’t do much XC competitions. I only own a lightweight glider to always be able to hike back up to a take-off and try new lines.

How do you know your supporter? And have your worked as athlete/supporter before?
My supporter is my flatmate and good flying buddy. We’ve been on many flights together and on a vol-biv adventure in the alps.

What advice would you ask of the race veterans?
How do I get out of the Basque country with as much flying as possible ?

Anything else you like to comment?
I’m really looking forward to discovering how I behave after three days of racing, questionable food choices, and watching others glide away while I’m power-hiking in a hot valley. That’s probably where the real adventure begins.

The X-Pyr is a perfect mix of strategy, stubbornness and small moments of genius — usually followed by moments of “why did I choose this line?”. I’m excited for all of it.
I’ll try to :
-Fly as much as possible.
-Walk as little as possible.
-Keep smiling even when I’m not doing either.

If I reach the Mediterranean still enjoying the adventure (and still talking to my supporter), I’ll consider it a big success.

Without them, the X-Pyr wouldn't exist.
