When and why did you start paragliding?
I started my paragliding course in 2019 because I was into skiing. I always wanted to do speedriding, and I went to Andorra for that. I tried with “Terri”, and it was so nice, then I wanted to do the same in the summer. He recommended doing a paragliding course, just because in summer are a lot of other things envolved, like winds and meteo…. so I started the course with the best teacher: Luis Rico at Volfactory!
Why have you applied to participate in the X-Pyr?
Participating in the X-Pyr is a dream come true for me. But in order to make it happen, several circumstances led me to decide to take on an adventure like this. These are basically the technical and physical progress I have made, thanks to training, especially with the Catalan H & F Team (to whom I am enormously grateful), and the competitions I have taken part in over the last year. This is precisely what made me decide to apply for the X-Pyr, feeling capable of taking on the adventure and completing this…
Why are you attracted to hike & fly?
I am a great lover of the mountains. Before discovering H & F, I was already doing a lot of activities such as trail running, skiing, climbing… H & F is a way of combining mountain activities with flying, which has ended up becoming my other passion (or rather, obsession…). It is the purest way to move around the mountains, as you do it thanks to the elements of nature, enjoying incredible experiences.
What is your greatest sporting success (flying or not flying)?
One such achievement in terms of sporting results was winning the Ceret H & F last year, or coming second in the Pyrenees Air Tour. Although I’m not so much about results as personal achievements. Finishing Bornes to Fly was also an achievement, as was joining the Catalan H & F team two years ago and finishing fourth in the Catalan H & F league for the last two years, given the level of competition…
What excites you most about participating in the X-Pyr?
What appeals to me most is experiencing this adventure with the team; I think it will be unforgettable. I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Hondarribia on the day of departure, laughing, suffering…
Discovering different places, sharing it with other pilots, flying in unfamiliar areas…
The preparation, the logistics…
The challenge itself, and hopefully getting home…
What is your best result in a H&F competition so far?
My best result was first place in the H & F Ceret 2025 and second place in the Pyrenees Air Tour 2025.
Have you flown in the Pyrenees before? Do you have a favourite area?
Yes, I live in the Pyrenees and I usually fly here, mainly in the eastern Pyrenees, in the Serra Cavallera area, Setcases. It’s definitely my favourite place. Flying over mountains such as Bastiments, Gra de Fajol, or the mountains around my home is priceless, although any mountain flight in the Pyrenees fills me with infinite joy.
What does your typical training week consist of?
The truth is that my work itself, especially in winter, is already a daily workout, with skis on all day long. When I am off, I try to go to the gym twice a week to build strength and two more days of running or mountain skiing to train my endurance.
What worries you the most about the event?
What worries me most is the fact that the X-Pyr has a pre-established route where knowing how to read the weather and take advantage of flyable windows is extremely important. I am concerned about making the best decisions at all times. Also, the physical factor, not suffering any injuries given the toughness of the competition. It is many days and I hope my body can hold up.
Personally, how do you feel differently when you participate in H & F races in comparison to XC competitions?
In H & F competitions, there are many more factors that make strategy very important. Personally, I like it better because it offers much more variety, opens up more possibilities, and the physical factor plays a big role.
How do you know your supporter? And have your worked as athlete/supporter before?
The team’s main supporter is Carol. We are a couple and we met at the ski resort where we work together. She will be the driver, cheerleader, psychologist, nutritionist, logistics manager and emotional support! The best supporter and team leader ever… We also have Joan, from Mallorca, who is pure good vibes. He will be the main sherpa. Nil will be in charge of the trackers, flight strategy, and weather forecasts.
What advice would you ask of the race veterans?
I would like to ask for your advice on how to approach the competition, your points of view. Also small details about logistics, food, footwear… any information is useful for getting to Port de la Selva!
