A fantastic training opportunity for many of our athletes is presented at the Pyrenees Open 2026 – Test event of the 1st FAI World Hike and Fly Championships & Spanish Championship which is being held at Panticosa, Spain from Jun 4 – Jun 7, 2026. Panticosa is in the heart of the Pyrenees, and very close to the X-Pyr TP2 at Villanúa.
Many local pilots (Aner Bueno, Romain Larripa, Manel Gras, Francesca Mugianesi, Guillermo Monroset and Mattin Iñiguez) will be on the start line. Additionally there will be other pilots from far away using this opportunity to either fly in the Pyrenees for the first time or scout the terrain and conditions so close to the actual race. Look out also for Benjamin Gaudry, Benoit Brunet-Poirier, David Chen, Celia Viermann and supporter-turned-athlete Joey Villeneuve. The X-Pyr supporter of Manel Gras, David Polo, is the meet director of the event.
We wish them all good luck, great flights and good scouting of the X-Pyr locations.
Thursday the 4th of June sees a prologue and the full event takes place 5th – 7th June.
