What do you like about the X-Pyr that keeps you coming back for more?
The Basque Country sunshine! Team adventure and pushing your limits.
How is the X-Pyr different from other H&F competitions you have taken part in?
I’ve never participated in another competition as long as the X-Pyr. What makes it different, and what keeps me coming back, is that it’s in the Pyrenees and the organisation is top.
How was your race in your previous edition(s)?
It was great, it was difficult but it was a great experience and a great memory.
What was the best thing that happened to you in your last X-Pyr?
The turnpoint at the Col de Couraduques, my home, with friends present to see me in flight.
What was the worst thing that happened to you in your last X-Pyr?
Not having been there for the prize giving ceremony, I had to leave quickly.
What did you learn during the previous edition(s)?
To believe in my ideas and those of my team.
If you could have input into the route, what would you suggest to the organisation?
To fly over my house again would be perfect 😉
What changes have you made to your equipment for this edition?
Nothing at the moment, but I might make some changes.
Apart from flying far and walking little, what will your strategy be during the race?
I try to make as few mistakes as possible so as not to waste too much time, and I believe in my choices.
What three pieces of advice would you give to Rookies in the race?
Fly far, run fast, don’t be afraid of the rain! For a long race, you have to conserve your energy, avoid too many mistakes, and try to get a good night’s sleep.
What about your training? How many hours do you fly a year?
I’m not entirely sure, around 200 hours flying and 2500 km of running.
How do you know your supporter? And have you worked as athlete/supporter before?
They are friends, this will be our third X-Pyr together. I wouldn’t have come back without them.
Anything else you like to comment?
I can’t wait to be on the beach and start this 3rd X-Pyr.
